Miss Flora M. Allan has resigned the position of principal of the Otago Girls’ High School after thirty years’ service at tho school.—Press Assn.
Mr. G. Goldsworthy, late of Mr. Newton King’s staff, has accepted a position with tho Taranaki Agencies'. Limited.
At a meeting of directors of the Maketawa Dairy Co. on Thursday, subsequent to the annual meeting, Mr. Joseph Brown was elected chairman for tho 24th year in succession. The com-' pany has only been established 25 years.
Mr. James Scanlon, of New Plymouth, leaves to-night for Auckland, cn route to Fiji on a business and pleasures trip extending over six weeks. Mr. Scanlon will bo accompanied by Mrs. Scanlon and their two sons.
Mr. Newton King, chairman of the New Plymouth Harbour Board, leaves on Wednesday for Wellington with reference to various matters in connection with the port and particularly witli the object of endeavouring to get powers under which the board will bo enabled to erect homes for employees. Captain Bark, who recently underwent treatment in the New Plymouth Public Hospital for appendicitis, has takqn command of the llimu until the Rarawa commences hej running again between Onohunga and this port. Captain Bark has quite regained his usual good health. The Bishop of Dunfcdin (the Bight Rev. J. Richards) proposes to leave for England in January. It will bo a flying visit on business connected with the Church. The Bishop’s chief , object in going Home is to try to make arrangements for a supply of clergymen, and to discuss, the latest developments in Church work at Home and abroad.
Th many friends of Mrs. Blundell, wife of Mr. E. F. Blundell, formerly manager for the Bank of New Zealand at New Plymouth, will learn with deep regret the news of her death, which occurred to-dayi Mrs. Blundell was a daughter of the late Mr. Lo Cron, of Timaru. She leaves a family.of one daughter and three sons—Mrs. Wade, wife of Dr. Wade; Sergt. K. Blundell, D.0.M.; Mr. Harold Blundell, of Okoko; and Mr. Ronald Blundell, of the staff of the Bank of Now Zealand, Now Plymouth. In their bereavement the husband and family will have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.
