WHEAT FOR FOWLS.
NONE AVAILABLE. Poultry raisers are at present having great difficulty in securing wheat. Apparently the difficulty is acute in Otago, and on “Tuesday in the Horse of Representatives Mr. Sidey asked tho Minister of Agriculture what provision had been made for tho supply of wheat for fowl feed for Otago. Tho Minister (Mr. Nosworthy) said that an allocation had been proposed early in the season, but it had been found impossible tp cawy it out because there had not been the expected amount of wheat available. The Supplies available had been allocated as carefully as possible, but the plain truth 'of the matter was that there, was not sufficient to ,go round for tho whole year, and ho would take this opportunity of informing members of the House that it was useless for poultry people to look to tho Government to supply them witli wheat. They would have to make tho best of tilings with oats, potatoes, or any other foods available. The Government had a hard task already vo find enough wheat for bread for the people. He would see that of tho vdieat remaining in the hands of the controller a fair allocation was made to Dunedin.
