NEXT WEEK’S TOURNAMENT. The new programme arranged for the Taranaki Boxing Association’s tournament which takes place at the Empire Theatre,' New Plymouth, on Thursday of next week, is advertised in full in this issue. ■ . The programme to he submitted is a very good one. There will he a 15round professional bout for a purse of 50 sovereigns between Tommy Thompson (winner of Army championships in Prance and England), and _ Frank Brown (welter champion 4th Battle Squadron Grand Fleet, 1915). Tnnse two contestants were the winners ot the professional bouts at the May tournament, ■ . Four special amateur bouts of eix rounds are to be staged. In the bantam weight, V. D. Rolston will meet T. Chaplin; in the light-weight A. Duggan (Normanby) will be matched with V. Carrol; in the welter weight. R. Land will try with I • O’Carroll (Inglewood), while in the heavyweight two well-known contestants, 0. F. Clifton ancl.C. Vokkc, will Prices of admission have been fixed at 10s, ss, and 3s, and there are a number of ringside; tickets at £1 Is. Patrons who require ringside seats should book same without delay, as inquiries are already being made-for them.. The box plan is now open at Collier’s.
