VICTORIA LEAGUE.
•1 ro the r.niron. 1 Sir,— ln last Saturday’s issue of the Herald John Doe remarked that he did ■ not know the exact functions of the : Victoria League. Will you, sir, for the ; benefit of ail interested, favour the : league by writing a short article oxi plaining the aims and objects of the ; league. I would attempt it myself, but that I quite agree. v/ittT what 1 read in 3'our paper last week under “'Tales ■ from Fleet Street,” that press correspondents are born, not made, and knowing full well my own limitations ! I leave it to your abler pen. But ’ may I state that the league member- , ship is open to men as well as women, 1 and that wo should gladly welcome ■John Doe or any other gentleman in the town, who would join and attend the mootings. The league requires such ; help, for men have more experience in ' business methods than women, and an organisation such as the league should certainly bo run in a more busincss- , like way than it is at present, and 1 : think with John Doe that, reporters ■ should be allowed to attend the tneot- ’ ings, otherwise the Literary Guild, ; which is only a branch of the league. should appoint its own chairman and secretary, and the latter should act ; as press correspondent. Trusting, sir, : that when yen can spare time yon will . kindly respond to my request.—l am, Ct '°’’ LEAGUE MEMBER.
