Harmsworth, in tho House of Commons, stated that Finland, Latvia, and Lithuania had declined the invitation to participate in the Peace Conference at London. BERLIN, July 20.A disastrous explosion occurred in a German munition depot at Saar, resulting from the ignition of aerial bombs. Three hundred wooden buildings were destroyed. Neighbouring villagers fled in a panic; fearing the fire would extend to a gas shell dump. French troops are assisting the evacuation of civilians of the district.
Archbishop Mannix, speaking at the New York City Hall on the occasion of receiving the freedom of the city, said; “I venture to express the hope that the goodwill expressed for my country by you will continue. America may not need Australia, but Australia may need America. I assure you, in the name of the .Australian people, that the compliment you have paid me will be valued in Australia.” '
