The British lied Cross gift has bfeen allocated as follows:—£2s,ooo to NewSouth AVales, Victoria, South Australia, West Australia and Tasmania, and £20,000 to Queensland. Tire British Red Cross Society has remitted through the Governor-General £150,000 for distribution amongst institutions and nursing organisations solicitous for the w-elfaie of the dependents of soldiers and sailors. The idea of transforming Devonshire House, the former London residence of the Duke of Devonshire, into a cinema theati-3 has been abandoned.
