THE INFLUENZA WAVE.
SATISFACTORY REPORTS. ' Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Juno 7. “I regard tho position as very satisfactory, and apparently we have reached the end of tho wave,” remarked tho District Health Officer (Dr. Paris) to-day, in reviewing the influenza statistics for Wellington district. Dr. Faris added that it looked as if the district was going to have a quiescent period now, although the possibility of further mild waves of influenza during the winter should not be overlooked. For the wools ended at noon to-day only 2G9 cases were notified, a decrease of 335 cases compared with tho figures for tho previous week, and a decrease of 880 cases on tho total recorded two -weeks ago. Nelson, with an increase of four cases, was tho only district in which a falling-off was not disclosed. Of tho latest cases 15 were listed as pneumonic. The previous week there were 21 cases in this category, and ono was severe.
