SHIELD MATCH ARRANGEMENTS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 8. A meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association agreed to play shield matches against Auckland in the following order: Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, AVanganui, Canterbury, and to write to Auckland and Nelson suggesting that the first match be played not later than July 3. The challenge of Thames and Poverty Bay against Waikato, who hold the Nor don Cup aro fixed in that order, the first match to be played on July 10. AVitli rospect to referees for shield matches it was decided to endeavour to make appointments through the New Zealand Referees’. Association, also to write to affiliated associations and the. Referees’ Association asking for a -list of referees competent to control shield or Novdon Cup matches and who are prepared to act outside their own districts.
