Upon arrival from New Zealand, the Union Company’s steamer Kama was fumigated, and subsequently Mr. Cartor, the chief steward, and Nixon, the watchman, were found fatally asphyxiated in the engineer’s cabin. They apparently had closed the door owing to the cold before the fumes escaped.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
