TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In the “Reflections” of “John Doc” on April 24 ho supposes woman saying to man “Well, why shouldn’t I smoke? You do.” Fortunately women do have some care for the raco. 31en do untold harm to their progeny by continual indulgence in smoking, but it women smoko too the case is in deed desperate. Nearly all the children bom blind, deaf, lame, imbecile, or otherwise defective need nob have been so—might have been sound normal children but for lack of physiological knowledge or of abstention from indul genres injurious to the constitution. People pour into their delicate insides all kinds of strong drinks, strong tea, strong condiments and poison themselves and the air all around them by smoking tobacco and do not reflect that they not only injure themselves, but tho human race. When will our educators teach things that really matter —that are so far more important to every human being than anything else they learn ? Though of course they should do this and not neglect the other!—l am, etc., HOC AGE.
