LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.

At the recent examinations conducted by the Taranaki Head Centro of the’ Royal Life-saving Society at the Municipal Baths the following candidates were successful:— Elementary and proficiency certificates.—Stephanie North, Merle J. Hooker, Alice M.- Smalley, K. E. Grant, May Aileen fioskin. Medallions.—Margaret Thomson and May Smart. Hon. instructor’s and teacher’s certificate,—Frances Brown. Miss ''Brown also gained the Award of Merit, the second highest award of the society, securing 87 out of ,110 marks. In two of the movements Miss Brown secured the maximum number of points, viz., 10. for rescue work she received 9 and'in four or five other movements the points awarded wore only two below the maximum. Messrs. N. A. Christiansen and E. L. Purdue wore the examiners.
