FREEZING WORKS STRIKE.
CHARGE AGAINST MEN. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, April 27. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, the Inspector of Awards proceeded against 16 slaughtermen employed at the Imlay Freezing Works, as a sequel to the alleged strike there in January last. It was stated for the prosecution that the slaughtermen asked for increased rates for killing, and on being refused, ceased wo r k the following day. Work was resumed a few days later.. The defence was that the msn ceased work on account of tha wot condition of the sheep, and that their action was not associated with the question of killing rates. Judgment was reserved.
