The demand continues keen tor good cows close to prolit, these selling xroiu £l2 10s to £l4 10s, others £6 10s to £l2 os; good quality at profit heifers, Lli 10s to £io; otuers, small and inferior, £6 to £ll os; yearling to 2t-yca'r empty hellers, £3 10s to £ < os; calves, £1 8s to £1 17s 6d; store wethers, £i bs to £1 12s; aged ewes (poor), 10s Od to 19s Od; weedy lambs, bs 9ci. At Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in average rmmbers, being mostly of inferior quality, winch sold at lato rates, prime quality, penned in short numbers, was very firm at late quotations. Choice os sold to £2 14s per 1001 b.; prime ox sold at from £2 10s to £2 13s per 1001 b.; rough and inferior oxen sold at from £2 4s to £3 9s per 1001 b. ;_cow and heifer beef sold at from £2 5s to £2 11s per 1001 b.; steers sold at from, for best, £l7 to £2l 2s 6d; others, £9 17s 6d to £l6 los; cows and heifers sold at from £8 to £l3 12s 6d. Sheep were penned in average numbers, and though competition was scarcely as keen as the previous week, quotations are the same. No extra heavy wethers or ewes were penned. Heavy prime wethers, £1 16s 9d to £1 19s 9d; medium prime £1 14s 3d to £1 16s 6d; light prime wethers £1 12s to £1 14s; small and unfinished £1 10s to £1 11s 9d; heavy prime ewes £1 12s 6d to £1 16s 9d; medium prime £1 8s to £1 11s 9d; light prime £1 4s 9d to £1 7s 9d; small and inferior 16s to £1 3s 6d. Calves were penned in smaller numbers, and wore better value, especially light butchers’, wliich were in very short supply. Runners sold from £5 to £7 17s 6d; heavy vealers £3 ids to £4 19s; medium £3 to £3 14s; light £3 to £2 18s; lighter fat calves £1 to £1 19s; fresh-dropped 12s to 18s. Lambs wore penned in average numbers and sold under keen competition at slightly advanced prices. Heavy prime lambs £1 10s to £1 14s 6d, medium prime £1 6s to £1 9s 9d; Tight prime £1 2s 9d to £1 6s 9d; small and unfinished lambs 18s to £1 2s 6d. A fair yarding of pigs sold at last week’s values. Heavy baconers £7 os to £i 18s; medium £6 10s to £7 4s; light £6 to £6 9s; heavy porkers £5 to £5 19s; medium £4 os to £4 19s; lighter £3 to £4 4s.
