MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

CIVIL BUSINESS. Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.j presided at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court this morning to deal with civil business. Judgment for the plaintiffs by default was given in the case of Spelling and Andrews (Mr. T. P. Anderson) against the British Petroleum Development Company and P. A. Hadley (Mr. C. H. CroKcr) for the sum of £49 13s and costs (£3 10s 6d). In a judgment summons case. Eahui Mare, at the suit of Frederick Ward, was ordered to pay £4 16s forthwith, in default five days’ imprisonment. Roy and Nicholson sued Howard E. Russ for possession of a tenement and the recovery of rent (£9 18s). An order for possession on or before April 29 was made and judgment was given for the amount claimed and costs.
