BIG LAND-SLIDE.

IN, BULLER GORGE. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, April 23. A big land slide in tho Buller Gorge has apparently completely destroyed the famous fern arch. There appears to be at least 2000 yards in the slip, including some big blocks of conglomerate stone, and the work of removal will be difficult and dangerous. • A bridge was smashed by the fall of earth and stone, and some four or five telegraph poles were engulfed. It is thought that light mail matter may he got through to-morrow, but it will bo •some time next week before the road is clear for traffic. _ln tho meantime _ cars will run to either side of the slip, and passengers may take the risk of a climb over the debris. It would, however, appear to bo unwise for lady passengers to attempt to come through yet, and the passengers that do come will require to travel light.
