GIRLS’ HOSTEL MART.

SUCCESSFUL DAY. Tho Mart Day in aid of the Girls’ Hostel, ably organised by Mrs. HughDaily, was in full swing on Saturday morning, and the many stalls were soon relieved of their useful and appetising articles. Tho meat stall in Mr*. Lightband’s shop in Currie Street was plentifully stocked with oxtails, corned ueet, tongues, meat pies, cooked ham, and other delicacies, while outside there were ranged vegetables, fruit and miscellaneous produce. The iloivor stall, a colour scheme of yellow, was in the usual place outside the old BecWJross shop, and seemed to be doing record 'business during tho morning. A heavily-laden table of sweets arranged attractively proved too tempting to be passed by the busy shoppers, and very soon tho stocks were all sold. Supplies at the usual jumble and a jam and pickles stall were selling freely. During the morning a quaint little old lady, Miss Grecnstockings, in a Paisley shawl and early Victorian dress, paid a visit to Now Plymouth, where she had decided she must sell her apples in order to seo the Prince. Some of these apples contained three-penny pieces, and by the way they were selling Miss Grecnstockings need no longer be afraid that she won’t have enough money to stay and seo the Prince. The names of the stall-holders are as follow: Meat and Pie Stall.—Mrs. S. G. Smith, Miss Wood, Mr. Pepperil and Mr. H. Daily. Cake Stall.—Mesdames’ Robertson, Messenger, Rockel and Mac Diarmid. Miscellaneous Stall.—Mrs. L. Webster. Vegetable Stall.—Mrs. Eberlet. Sweet Stall.—Misses Bradbury, Winfield, Whitton, Bullard, Daily and Eollo. Jumble Stall.—Misses Pratt and Lawson. Jam and Pickles.—Mesdames Boyd and 11. George, and Miss M. Wilson. Flower Stall.—Mesdames Neal, Orholl, Misses Godfrey, Curtis and Simpsou. During the day several nurses in their uniforms sold Anzac badges, and there seemed no hesitancy on the part of the people to invest in these souvenirs of such a great day in New Zealand war history. The, mimes of the nurses were; Siste’rs Paget and Muir; Nurses iiolston. Dew. Moore, Salway, Wilson, .Peers, and Corkill.
