WASHINGTON, March 8.

President Wilson in a letter to Senator G. M. Hitchcock, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, flatly refused to consider Senator Lodge’s reservation in Article Ton. The letter continues; “Article Ton represents a renunciation by Britain, Japan, Italy and Prance of political conquest arid territorial aggrandisement.” The modified reservation was adopted by 49 votes to 26, affirming the United States’ right to control her own armaments.

The Labour reservations, refusing assent to the Labour treaty, were readopted by 44 votea to 27.
