Mr. E. Lash, secretary of the New Plymouth Hij»h School Board, returned. , on Tuesday from a holiday spent in the Wanganui and .Hawke's Bay districts.
Mr. Hugh Bailey left by fhe mail train for Wellington on Tuesday morning to .represent the Taranaki master bakers at tho conference that is to be held with the Premier on the question of bread , prices. Two vacancies, stated the Prime Minister, will shortly occur on the Bank of New JJpaland directorate, the retiring members being. Mr. D. J. Nathan, of Wellington, and Mr. W. fleece, of Christchurch. Mr. Nathan is proceeding to England, and is therefore not eligible for reappointment. The Government • has decided that his place will he taken by Mr. George Elliot, of Auckland, whilst Mr. fleece will be re-appointed. Mr. Elliot is one of the best-known, business men in New Zealand, and has already done good work as a member of the National Efficiency Board, and on several commissions. He is also a director of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Mr. Elliot is at present chairman of the Trade Commission which is visiting the i Pacific Island* with the Parliamentary party on ill* Mokoia.
