STREET NAMES.

TO IKK EDITOR. Sir,—l wish to submit a protest to the proposed! names of streets published in your issue of February 25. In all deference to the good intentions of those concerned, I think the purpose of street names is overlooked—namely, guidance of the public. It is worthy to commemorate the services of the pioneers of this district in a proper way, but not by naming streets. A workable town is very much desired, not a maze. A stranger would have very little assistance to his destination with a, few names like those ln factjie would be afraid to ask direction for Tear of ridicule at his pronunciation. This town will bo a city, and that thought should he uppermost and demand a system of consecutive numbers and not names for streets. Hoping there is no time like the present for doing things right.—l am, etc., SIMPLICITY.
