THE ADRIATIC QUESTION.
PRESIDENT AATLSON’S AMEAVS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. NEAV YORK, Feb. 24. The AA’ashiugton correspondent of the New York Times understands President AA’ilson’s reply to the Allies’_ Adriatic Note will be dispatched to-nigbt, and will probably be handed to the Supreme Council on February 25. It is said there arc several Italian leadens who have been willing to accept tho December plan for a. settlement of the Adriatic question. They agree with France, Britain, and the United 1 States, but- the Italian Government was embarrassed by D’Annunzio’s action and strong propaganda in Italy, and. by his annexation of Fiume. Thus the Government could not accept the December agreement. It is predicted President AVilson’s Note makes another effort to convince the Italian Government and the people that a just and wise settlement can-only he made on the basis of the December plan.—Aus.-N.Z.
