There was a steady demand throughout, both locally and from outside, prices for all classes showing little difference compared with recent sales. Good store and rape lambs 13s 6d to 15s Id, medium sorts 9s 6d to 11s lOd, culls 4s 6d to 7s 4d, 2-tooth ' ewes 27s 6d, small do. 21s 6d to 23s 9d, mixed aged, ewes 22s 9d to 23s sd, s.m. do. 14s 3d to 18s,•■culls 8s to 10s, 2-tooth wethers 24s 6d to 26s 4d, small do 20s to 22s 6d, 4-tooth do. 26s 3d to ' 27s 4d, 4 to 6-tooth do 28s 4d, fat and forward wethers Sis 3d to 33s 6d, 2tooth Romney rams sold from 2j to 4 guineas. At Awakino on 14th iust. I held my annual sheep fair and cattle sale, amt I report a good yarding in each section. v Sheep sold well, odd pens of aged and indifferent sorts proved hard to quit, but otherwise firm prices maintained throughout. The cattle market i was inclined to be patchy, a big yard- * ing of 2j-year steers offering little or no competition. Other classes, however, realised present market prices throughout. Sheep; Lambs 13s Id to 16s Id, 2-tooth ewes 27s 6d, 6-tooth to f.f.m. 25s 7d to 26s 6d, s.m. do. 17s to 21e fid, cull do. 8s to 12s, fat and forward ewes 26s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 27s to 31s, 4 to 6-tooth do 27s to 31s Gd, mixed 2-tooths 24s Id. Cattle: 4to o-year .bullocks .213 to £ls 17s 6d, conditioned 3 to 4-year Jo. £l2 7s to £l3 15s, 3-year steers £8 10s to £9 10s, fat cows £ll 6s to £l2, store do. £7 to £9 10s, mixed 18-montli cattle £4 12s 6d to £4 18s 6d. At Urenui on the 16th hist. I had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle, but report a dull sale; one line of s.m. ewes sold for 235, 18-raonth steers £2 18s 6d to £3 15s, 3-year do. £9 ss, 2-year heifers E.W.B. £lO 10s, 18-month empty heifers £5 4s to £5 14s 6d, forward cows £9 to £lO, store do. £i 2s fid to £8 7s 6d, fat heifers £9 ss. At Kohuratahi on 16th inst. I held a sheep fair and cattle sale in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. I report a good yarding and good sale, firm prices being realised throughout. Sheep; 6-tooth to f.f.m. ewes 19s to 21s fid, cull do. 9s 6d to 12s, 2-tooth wethers 29s 2d to 31s, whether lambs 14s 6d, cull do. 6s 3d to 7s 3d. Cattle: 3to 4-year bullocks £l2 to '£l4 ss, 2 1 to ’3-year steers £6 10s to £8 17s, 18 to 20-month do. £5 6s, cows and calves £8 10s, forward cows £lO 10s, store do. £7 ss. At Stony Elver on 17th inst. I held my annual/ sheen fair in conjunction with the fortnightly cattle sale. A fair yarding of sheep came forward, a strong local demand resulting in practically a full clearance being made. Lambs especially sold well. In the cattle section weaners sold with a better tone, but otherwise prices were on a par with late rates. Sheep: Mixed 2-tooths (small) 20s 6d, e.m. ewes 14s 2d, cull do. 9s, 2-tooth wethers 265, woolly lanVbs 17s 2d, shorn do. 15s 3d, cull lambs 12s to 12s 6d, fat sheep 29s 6d. ■ Cattle.—Shorthorn weaner heifers £2 He to £3 10s, Jersey cross-do. £4, bulls 34s 6d to £2 12s fid, very small mixed weaners 18s, 18 to 20-month steers £4 17s, poorer do.’ £3 4s, fat cows £lO 8s to £l3 2s fid, store do £7 to £9, cows and calves £6 15s, bulls £l2.

At 'Whangamomonn on 18th hist. I held a sheep fair and cattle sale in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan Co. Despite rough weather tho yarding was very fair. The sheep mostly showed poor quality and consequently were hard to quit. Cattlo met with a fair demand. Sheep: 2tooth wethers 245, 4-tooth do. 28s Id, 4 to 6-tooth do. 30s Id, poor 4-tooth ewes 18s. 6-. tooth to f.f.m. do 10s Id to 22s Bcl, "f.m. do. 9s Od to 14s. Mixed 2-tooths 24s 6d, lambs 13s Sd, 2tootli Romney rams 31 to 4 guineas. Cattle: Cows and calves £5 to £6, 20-month steers £5 10s, 2-year empty heifers £B, . well-grown Holstein heifi ere E.W.B. £ll, heavy bulls £l4 ISs. At Ohnra on 19th mst. I held my annual sheep fair. I report a very good yarding of sheep both in number and quality. Tho market throughout had a steady tone, there being a atrong local inquiry for lambs and breeding ewes, outside buyers accounting for most of the store and forward ewes and wethers. Prices on the whole compared favourably with the Taranaki market. A few pens of cattle came forward, all of which sold. The yarding at Waiwakaiho on 20th inst. was small and inquiry was drill.
