OTAGO v. CANTERBURY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 23. In the Canterbury-Otago match, when the time came for play to be resumed this afternoon in sunny weather and on a good wicket, it was found Otago had had bad luck. Hutchison, who had scored 19 not out on Saturday, had fallen ill with tons!litis. Alloo and M'Mullen,. whose innings had been completed were also ill. Hutchison being an absentee, there was only one wicket to fall, and this added two runs. The innings closed for 145. Canterbury had thus to get only 40 to win, which was secured without the loss ot a wicket (Blunt not out 21, Worker not out 20), winning by ten wickets. THE HAAVKE CUP. i AVAIRARAPA v. POVERTY BAY. GISBORNE, Feb. 23. The Hawke Cup match,.AVairarapa versus Poverty Bay, commenced in fine weather and on a splendid wicket. Tiio local team won the toss and batted first and made 244 (Aliller 62, Pcre 45, Reeves 60. Scholium 21 not out). Collins, for AVairarapa, took six wickets for 56 runs. AA'airarapa scored 80 (Henderson 27, Barr 14 not out). Scholium took five wickets for 32, M‘Lachlan two for 33, Oates one for 10.
