SOARING PRICES.
INDIGNATION IN BRITAN. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 10. Ever soaring prices. are exciting public indignation. A reel of cotton has advanced , from 21d to lOd, although Coats’ made ' a profit of £3,995,000 last year. The Daily Express states that the Profiteering Sub-Committee is reporting that even a charge of 71d was not justified. - The prices of cigarettes,, cigars, and tobacco have again advanced, though the Imperial Tobacco Company in 1919 made a,profit of £4,662,000. Clothing is tending upward; also butter, and fares by. taxi-cabs, trams, and buses. Almost the only item ' that as cheaper is eggs, which are retailing at 3d each instead of od each during war time.—Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
