PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY.

WESTOWN SIDE SCHOOL. The annual prize-giving ceremony in connection witn tue \vestown Side Scnool of the Frankley .bclioot took place last night in the Westown Hall, wnich was packed. Air. A. It. Davis, chairman or the Frankley Conniii'teo, Xiresided. Tiio early portion ol the evening was taken up with a concert, the majority of the items being given by the children attending tho school, 'iho manner in wmcli tliey went through tho various pretty dunces and iiiarcuos collected grout credit on the training given by their teachers, Aliases Warren and Hoddcr, who were also responsible for the stage decorations. Ail tho items were greeted with applause. Tile programme was as follows ; Opening recitation, Elsie \Vullath; soldiers’ song and march, school children; dialogue, “Tho Rival Speakers,” Sydney Touts and Howard Edward; recitation, “Mammy’s Baby,” Marjorie Sole; children’s.dance by ten little children, “My Table Losso. Stella Autridgo; dialogue, “The Tram to Mauro,” Miss Warren, Elsie Wallath, and Howard Coad; song, in Scotch costume, Reggio Styles, Howard Edwards and Ernest Yorke; song, “Mickey,” Olive Autridgo; action song, "Good Eight,” eight little girls. All the accompaniments for The children’s items were played by Miss Warren. Songs were contributed by Miss Lister and Messrs. Crocker and Tunbridge. The accompaniments wore played by Miss Hair and Air. Bellringer. Air. Davis thanked the parents for the assistance they had given iu connection with the entertainment, and called on Air. R. J. H. "White, member of the Taranaki Education Board, to present tho prizes. Air. White, in doing so, delivered a short address and paid a'tribute to the work done by the children, and expressed the hope that in the near future a school worthy of the district would bo erected. Air. White then announced 1 that the school would break up on Tuesday for the Christmas holidays, which he hoped all would enjoy. Air. Sims, headmaster of the FrankIcy School, stated that tho side school had fully justified its existence, and the teachers'there wore doing splendid work.

After Air. Garcia, had thanked the teachers and performers, on behalf ot tho people of Westown, supper provided by the. ladies of tho district was dispensed. “The hall was then cleared for dancing, music being provided by Aliss Rita Sole.
