WAITARA.
VROJI OUII OWN COniIESPONDENT. Dec. 3.—Tho licensing committee granted an application yesterday for Die transfer of the Club Hotel from Air. T. Gardiner to Air. R. Fairweather. It is pleasing to see that the lovers of rowing are getting into practice again. There is a movement afoot to amalgamate the AVaitara and Clifton ClubSj and a mooting is being field on I< rklay to consider tho matter.
Tho Christmas show at the Big Store is in full blast, and the Christmas tree is on sliow. I understand that a wireless has arrived from Santa Claus intimating Jiis intention of visiting A\ aitara on Christmas Evd, making tho Big Store his headquarters. There are reports of failures in turnip sowing owing to weather conditions. The seeds start germinating after a nice shower, but before the roots can strike down into the moist soil tho winds shrivel up tiio ncwlyhurst seeds, as often ns not to their utter destruction.
Tho local Returned Soldiers’ Association is considering tho forming of a chib.
Footballers will bo able to see their gaino as played by Harvard and Ynlo. It is not likely, ■ however, that our Clifton Club will have much to learn from the picture that is to bo screened to-night at the Theatre Royal, unless it is confidence in their own skill at tho game.
