GOLF.
By “Mastic/* The course Jit Wftnvakaiho is at present in capital order. Working bees continue to work at tiie greens ana next Easter should .see a much improved course. A number of members intend to play rigid through tho summer months'. These players will find the advantage of this when the season opens next year. Referring to the recent Ladies >\cllington Championship, ‘Tear way,” in tho Evening .Rost says: . One point worth notice is that one did not see or hear oi any of the competitors missing ridiculously easy short putts, as was the case with the men at Napier. I’erliaps the greens were better, or perhaps tho huhet, are hotter putters. I think the latter, for in the final the putting was really very lino. The greenkeepers deserve a word of praise lor the beautiful condition the course was in. They worked early and la to to keep tho reputation of the Hcretaunga course up to its championship standard. It is a pity, as I have previously mentioned in this column, that more summer golf is not indulged in. The season, as far as competitions are concerned, is now practically oyer, but it is to he hoped that tho Wellington Golf Club will resume its annual tournament this coming Christmas. This club’s links arc usually in firstclass order at this time of the year.
