A recently demobilised officer has forwarded to the Daily Mail a mass of correspondence to show that, in'spite of waste in high places, claims on the public purse, for a few shillings are not paid without the most minute inquiry. On August 19 he sent to the army authorities a claim for 12s for travelling expenses—lls for two taxi-cabs and two sums of fid for porterage—in respect of a duty visit to a camp before being demobilised.'
