INGLEWOOD.
. pbom onn own coebespondent. Nov. 12.—The armistice anniversary was celebrated in glorious weather. Shops and offices observed a half-holi-day. The school children assembled at 9 a.m. and were addressed by the headmaster, Mr. J. Thomas, who -also explained the King’s wish and hoped they would all remember it wherever they happened to be at 11 a.m. The', ceremony concluded with the saluting ‘ pf the flag and the singing of the) National Anthem. At 11 a.m. the } firebell rang out for the two minutes’ i silence, which was not particularly no-1 tioeahle in our quiet little town. The * postponed children’s peace sports were i held in the recreation ground in the I afternoon, when there was a Large at-1 tendance of children and adults. The I catering arrangements were sadly in- I adequate, but the sports I was a very good and popular one—good | prizes being provided from a sum col- I looted among the townspeople. r The weather to-day has been very wet [ again, not looking too hopeful for the • opening of the bowling green, which was postponed from last Thursday. Next Thursday, 20th inst., the Bishop of Auckland will be in Inglewood. There will be a garden party in the vicarage grounds in the afternoon to enable his lordship to meet parishioners and friends. In the evening a con- , finnation service will he held in St. Andrew’s Church. Mr. Outfield’s new residence in Kelly Street is getting well on the way. This will bo the first concrete residence in Inglewood. Mr. J. Gibbs has returned from New Plymouth, showing visible signs of his recent serious illness. Mr. L. Errington, assistant at the local electric power house, returned to Inglewood to-day, after his recent sojourn in New Plymouth Hospital, suffering from a broken leg. He is still using crutches.
