DR. BARNARDO’S HOMES.

A very bright little entertainment took place in tit. AubyiTs Hall on Monday night, when a special effort was made by the AVest End Habitation of the Young Helpers’' League, in connection with the jubilee year of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. The hall was crowded, and tho appreciative audience must have been very gratifying to Captain Allen, who was the prime mover in arranging tho concert, and provided the major portion of tho programme. His items' included Kipling’s, well-known poem ’’lf,” and Bracken’s ’’Not Understood,” as well as several humorous items. Others who contributed to the musical programme were thef pupils of the AVest End School, Misses Canned, Aroha, Okey, Fenwick, Loveridgo, and Thompson, and Mr. Holden. During the evening Captain Allen gave a brief resume of the growth and development of the Barnardo Homes, and made a special appeal to the audience for assistance towards raising the large sum needed for - the upkeep of the homes. As a result of tho concert the sum of £l4 3s lid will bo forwarded to Now Zealand headquarters in Christchurch for transmission to London.
