OTAKI RACES. SECOND DAY’S RESULTS. Per Press Association. 1 OTAKI, Sept. 22. Tho second day of the Grain meeting was held in .dull weather, rain falling' during the afternoon. There was again a marked decrease in tho attencla'iico and totaiisator receipts. Results;— Trial Handicap 1! idleness (L. Morris) 1, tj Moutoa Boy 2, 1 Sweet Memory 3. Also started: 2 Haercmoana, 4 Sunburst, 8 Stolen Triumph, 7 Preface. From a good start Idleness led followed by Haercmoana. At tho entrance to the straight .Moutoa Boy and Sweet Memory challenged the loader, who iron by two lengths. Time, Imin, 3 2-usec. Dominion Hack Handicap.—2 Royal Exchange (A. Reed) 1, 7 Beloved 2, 5 Utuwai 3. Also started: I Sacramento, 4 May Morn, 7 March On, 3 Consultation, 6 Russet. From the start Russo t took command, Beloved and Royal Exchange being handy. This position was maintained till entering the straight, when Russet foil back, leaving them to light the finish. Royal Exchange won comlortably by two lengths. Time, Imin. 29 2-oscc. Steeplechase.—l First Lino (Kaan) 1, 3 Paworcwcro 2, 4 Coldstream '3. Also started: 2 Want (fell). Pawcrowero led the field till entering tho straight, when First Lino overhauled him and won easily. Time, 3min. 54 3-oscc.
President’s Handicap.—3 Old Gold (L. Morris) 1, 4 Pacific Slope 2,2 Moutoa Ivanova 3. Also started: 1 Mascot, 5 Detroit, 6 Spangle. D.elroit led all the way till well up tho straight, Old Gold being handy. The latter came with a well-timed run and won by a length, Moutoa Ivanova being close up third. Time, Imin. 46scc. Electric Hack.—l Arch Lassie (L. Morris) 1,2 Red Signal 2, 9 Restful 3. Also started; C Saniaraug, 4 Wonder,, 3 Chaoronia, 8 Matty, 7 Printomps, 5 American Beauty. Wonder, followed by Rod Signal, led for tho greater part of the distance, but both wore overhauled in the straight by Arch Lassie and Restful. Tho former won by a length. Time, Train. 2 l-ssoc.
Railway Handicap.—X Astinome (T. Young) 1, 4 Trentham Rose 2,2 Matatua 3. Also started; 3 Birkenvale. Trentham Rose led by several lengths for tho greater part of tho distance, being overhauled near the post and beaten hy three-quarters of a length after a good finish. Time, Imin. losec.
R-ahni Welter.—2 Dick (Emerson) 1, 3 Kailand 2, 5 Pervolo 3. Also started; X Manu, 4 Master Boris. Pervolo was first out, Master Boris being next. Half way up the straight tho field closed up, but nearing homo Dick camo away and won by two lengths, a nock separating tho second and third. Time, Imin. 44 3-ssec.
Waitohu Welter.—s Tyne (Emerson) 1, 4 Sweet Tipperary 2, 1 Ahika 3. Also started: 6 Prince Delaware, 2 Flash I.ady, 3 Sir Wallace. Tyne led throughout and won by two' lengths.
