ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF GIFTS
Tho officer in charge of the King George V. Hospital at Rotorua recently aildrc’isi'd a. letter of thanks to the Mayoress (.Mrs. C. H. -burgess) as head of the New Plymouth Women’s Patriotic Committee which regularly scuds parcels of gifts for the soldier inmates. Enclosed with the latter was a memorial of thanks that had been prepared by tiro soldiers on their own initiative. it expresses sincere gratitude for the serviceable gifts received from the V, omen's Patriotic Committee, and bears the signatures of <5 men, of whom seven were cot eases. Among the signatories were the followin" Taranaki men; A. Limincr (Wa-i----tara), K. 0. Stohr (New Plymouth), M. I. Jones (Now Plymouth), \v. it. Hcppcll (New Plymouth), F. Oliver (Stratford), J. E. Kuudsen (Okamwa), and F. P. McCarthy (Hurleyville). A copy of the announcement which was posted up in the hospital w hen the latest giias arrived was also enclosed. It is worked in red and black ink in bold letters, and reads; Look. Great bargain sale. Our wcll-bclovod friends of New Plymouth having placed with us ft inagmiicGUt as?ortn\cxit oi socks, laces, handkerchieis. etc., no aio disposing of the same at the highest rates. Look at our prices! One pan-hand-knitted socks! For hearty thanks to the women of Now Plymouth.
