HEAVY DAMAGES FOR SLANDER. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Sept. 22. At the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Chapman, AVilliarn Leonard 'Butler sued Groacan Joseph Black for £IOOO damages for slander. The jury, after a retirement of an hour and a half, returned with a verdict for plaintiff for £750.
