AN OFFICIAL’S METHOD
OF DEALING WITH PROFITEERS
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received Sept 23, 12.45 p.m.)
LONDON, Sept. 22
The Tokyo correspondent of the Daily Express reports an extraordinary murder case. Yamada, an official of the food department, clubbed to death a rich rice importer. The murderer pleads high moral grounds. Ho slew his victim because the latter’s wickedness was such that he was unfitted to live. The dead man was a profiteer, and inciter of food riots, and Yaraada’s counsel pleads the unwritten law. It appears that the victim brought £SOOO tn Yamada hoping to obtain a concession by bribery.—Reuter.
