AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

4 mooting of tho general committee of " the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held at the office of the secretary (Mr. TV. P. Okoy) on Saturday. Mr. W. B. Grant presided and there wore also present; Messrs; H. C. Sampson, A. Turnbull, C. AY. lloubo, W. Hnll, C. Hoskin, B. Honoyfield, S. Vickers, A. P. Lister, E. Stanley, S. Tophss, A. T. Moore, AV. Colo, A. E. Washer, N. AY. Hill, C. Fairbrother A. Smith, R. H. Pigott, and W. MTvenzie. It was reported that tho finance committee, on tho recommendation of the general committee, had decided to continue tho roofing over an , additional 50 stalls of tho cattlo pavilion. Tho sub-committee appointed to go into the quosion of green feed for the Autumn Show reported that the Meat AA’orks Company had very kindly agreed to allow tho society the use of four acres of one ,of its farms near tho show grounds for the growing of feed, and also that Mr. Luxton had promised to allow the society to cut eight acres of lucerne. Letters of thanks will he forwarded. It was reported that definite arrangements had boon made with the Government whereby the society was granted a lease for 42 years of tho 11) acres of tho Rewa Rewa rifle range adjoining the show grounds. _ _ Messrs. R. D. Climie and Q. T. AValkor were elected members of tho society. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs. C. Honeyfield, C. Hoskin, and T. Luxton for having donated the amount of their debentures to the society. A letter of thanks will bo forwarded to Mr. R. D. Climie for his offer of special prizes amounting to £3 3s for ponies being ridden to school—lt was decided that it be a recommendation to the horse schedule committee that there bo two classes and that tho special be divided as follows:—lss first prize, 10s second, and 5s third in each class, the entry ice to he Is. The quesion of providing additional accommodation for the* AVinter Show was referred to the finance committee and Mr. A. E. Washer.
