Tli© condition of Mr. Rees, who was seriously injured in the motor-car accident last Tuesday, has very much improved and it is hoped that he will toon be quite out of danger. The Inglewood Ladies’ Patriotic League’s social takes place on Thursday. As the league is about to disband, after being in active service for over five years, this will probably be the last of the socials, which will fake the form of progressive euchro and dancing. Miss Curds’ orchestra will provide the music. The rainfall for Inglewood for August as observed by Mr. F. H. Brown was 5.92 inches, rain falling on 20 days. NEW MEMORIAL CHURCH.
The decision arrived at a few weeks ago by the church people to erect a new Parish Church as a memorial of the principles for which our soldiers fought and died as well as a thanks offering for peace with victory, has been well supported by the parishioners. The method decided upon is to raise a fund, with contributions spread over a period of 18 mouths, and up to the present over £730 has come in in cash and promises. Some lo years ago, when Archdeacon Reeve was the Vicar of Inglewood, a new church scheme was launched, and about £.'<o is in hand from this effort. It riow remains for those who have not yet joined in the scheme to do so proportionately and systematically, and a worthy and fitting memorial can bo erected without debt.
It is proposed that the names of those who gave their lives shall be perpetuated on tablets within the church, and it is fitting that so many hallowed memories should bo associated with the sanctuary of God. It is hoped the church people of the Inglewood Parochial District will soon be able to complete the largo but inspirnig undertaking to which they arc committed.
