By the new steamer Wairuna arrived from San Francisco Captain Saunders, Chief Engineer ADCaughcy, and 12 members of the crew of the vessel formerly bearing the name of Wairuna. • which was sunk by tho raider Wolfo on June 2, 1917. , After 14 days in Germany they wore sent in squads to work repairing railway lines. Their food consistcd°mostly of dried swede, turnips, one small loaf every three days, and a mixture called soup. They were allowed sixpence a day to buy tobacco, etc.
