CHARGE OF DESERTIONS Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 6. At a court-martial to-day Private Frank Al‘Sweeney was charged with desertion by absenting himself from a parade at Invercargill of the reinforcement draft in which he was drawn. Evidence tendered for the defence showed that accused believed himself over tho military ago. Captain ALCormack, for the prosecution, said it appeared to him that accused was guilty of a technical broach in ignorance of tho law, and that if tho Defence authorities had had tho information the enso would probably never have arisen. The court announced that its decision would bo promulgated in due. course.
