i ; AN UNEXPLAINED DEATH. 3 . Per Press Association. J WELLINGTON, August 7. ' Tho Coroner's enquiry opened to-day j with regard to the death of George ( | MTvinty, wharf labourer, whose body | was found in the right of way at tho . : Parliamentary Buildings grounds yesterday morning. Dr. Fyfi'e said that over the left occipital bone of the skull there was an irregular depression about two inches long, but The skin was unbroken. AA’hen the scalp was removed a largo circular depression of tho skull was found. Tho indications were that death had been caused by direct violence with a blunt instrument. In his opinion a fall was unlikely to have caused this condition. After further evidence the inquest was adjourned, to allow of further inquiries ns to deceased's movements on the pre- , vious night. A BODY IDENTIFIED. AUCKLAND, August 7. Tho body of the man drowned off j Devonport AATiarf has been identified j as John Keating, a returned soldier, j who came from Dunedin.
