NUMEROUS AMENDMENTS,
TO THE PEACE TREATY, By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. ■WASHINGTON, July 30. _ If the Senators could have their way in regard to the peace treaty the Big Eire, would be unlikely to recognise its oil spring. Senator Fall, of New Mexico, has 70 amendments, and other members arc not less enthusiastic. There is a prospect of a complete deadlock. It seems impossible to secure the two-thirds majority necessary for its ratification. SATE OF AMERICAN SHIPS. WASHINGTON. July 31. The Shipping Board has announced that it will sell 100 steel coal-burning vessels, aggregating about 230,000 gross tons, to nu American corporation. It is believed the sale, involves 80 million dollars, and that the ships have been bought for French and Italian interests.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. GERMAN REPARATION BILL. NEW YORK, August 1. Mr. Baruch, economic adviser to the Afnerican peace delegation, made a statement to the Foreign Adah’s committee of the .Senate, in which he said that Germany's reparation Lull was greater than she can pay, but that the Reparation Commission will probably reduce the sum. Mr. Baruch added that President Wilson believed that the United States should not share the German payments.-—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
