RICCARTON NOTES. BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. CHRISTCHURCH. August'S. There was some interesting work at Ricoarton this morning, although the track was heavy, and as the morning wore on it was badly cut up. Hiero and Miramar were first out, and ran six furlongs together in Imin. 23 3Jsec. Art, brought homo by Amarantsus, left ten furlongs behind in 2min. 2150 c.; the National Hurdles candidate finished well, and it was a good performance, as he does not like mud. Sleight-of-hand, Sum Ran, Sandon, Sir Ralph, Tip Up, Parisian Diamond, Gay Lad, Jeaanot, Marvelito, Winslow, Stray Shot and Multiyo were all out doing strong pace work. Reformation pleased by running .seven furlongs in Imin. 36 4-6 sec.; and Fabisco beat Moorabbe over six furlongs in Imin. 23 4-usec. Coalition was schooled over a round of big fences and jumped well, but was not going at a great pace. Merry Lad and Tigerland ran six furlongs together in Imin. 27sec. hut were not doing their best. Pretty Lobby and All Over were not fully extended while running seven furlongs in' Imin. 385e0., a distance that Red Kea covered in Imin. 41sec. _ Sapper was all out to run five furlongs in Imin. llisec., and Post Haste was anxious to increase the pace while doing a working gallop over the same ground. Achilledes ran a mile comfortably in Imin. 54 4-ssec., while Form Up was stopping at the end of seven furlongs that took Imin. 36 2-5 sec. Gamecock dashed over half a mile in Sisco., a smart gallop, as he was carrying a big weight. Rowi Poto and Tigerland were schooled over four flights of hurdles, and their jumping would probably have been better if the pace had been more solid. Borodino, with an advantage in weight, was too good for Kilkee over six furlongs, run in Imin. 22 2-ssec. Single Rose, who was brought home by Hands Off, was stopping at the end of six furlongs in Imin. 23 2-ssec. Elocution was too good for Potentiality over a short course; Elocution is galloping well. Kilkee. with a welter weight tip, went rvell when covering five furlongs in Imin. 19 4-ssec. Sir Solo and Omaha fenced well whilo'schooling over five flights of hurdles in Imin. Msec.; Omaha is the better mud horse ofvthe two. Gasique, Sir Agnes and Gold Kip were not all out to run six furlongs in Imin. 24 2-ssec, Bon Reve and Locnella wore associated in a round over the country : both fenced well, hut they were not going at a great pace ; Bon Reve went on for the second round by himself. Glenshine, Wild Pilgrim and Vascular finished a few lengths in front of Dardanelles at the end of a mile run in Imin. 53 _3-ssec., a distance that Para or. and Cynic covered immediately afterwards in Imin, 53sec. Waimai and Signature both jumped well while schooling over four big fences, and afterwards they had a working gallop over a mile together. Comment heat lied Book over five furlongs in Imin. 7 4-ssec. Gerebus ran six furlongs in Imin. 21 4-ssec.; this can he reckoned as the best gallop of the morning, as lie had a big weight np. Work was brought to a close by Missouri aud Trickery running five furlongs on the sand in Imin. 6 4-ssee.

The Goodwood Plate respited; Haki 1, Golden Melody 2, Limpsfield 3. Won by a neck, four lengths between the next. AUSTRALIAN HURDLES. MELBOURNE, August 1. The Australian Hurdles resulted: Sir Memon (M‘Gregor) 9.3, 1: Beltano (Hawkins), 10.2, 2; Cuffs (Mooney 3 9.10 3. There were 15 starters, including Gladful. Graphono and Tinana were prominent early in the race. Sir Memon led at the turn. Beltane was first into the straight and jumped the last hurdle well clear of Sir Memon. and Cuffs, and appeared to have the race won, but Sir Memon finished strongly and won a great race by half a neck, 11 lengths between the next.
