NEW PLYMOUTH GAS COMPANY.

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. The directors of the New Plymouth Gas Company met on Friday evening, there being present: Messrs. T. Furlong, in the chair, E. Dockrill, M. Hoaly, E. P. Webster, and F. C. Bellringer. The annual statement of accounts ns prepared by the acting secretary, Miss Searle, and audited hy Air. J. S. S Medley, were presented for considciation, "and niter some consideration it was decided to recommend at the annual meeting of shareholders on Monday next, that the usual dividend of 8:1 per cent, be paid, that £SOO be placed to the renewal fund and £lo3l< Us 6d carried forward. The results were considered to he very satisfactory, especially in view of iho unexpected iucreaso in the cost of coal and oilier materials. Goal alone had cost an additional £1157. In addition the bank overdraft bad been wiped off and there was a credit of about £250.
