It will be seen, continued Mr. Myers, that the average annual customs revenue for the last four years has kept up to pre-war level, the average per head for 19.15-1 C being about £3 Is, as against £3 0s (kl for 1913. 9ho excise beer duty increased by about 100 pci* cent, in 1018, compared wiib the pre-war years, due almost entirely In the increase in the rale of duty from 3d to nearly fid per gallon.
