To-morrow afternoon, Saturday, the gift tea for the Soldiers’ Hostel larder, promises to he a great success. The hostess will he pleased to meet friends at the Mayoress’ room, 11.8. buildings, Devon Street, from 2 p.m. AH arc cordially invited, especially country friends who arc in town lor the day. Mr. T. Avery forwards us the first number of a new magazine—Hutchinson’s Story Magazine—published by Messrs. Hutchinson and Co., Loudon. The contributors include sucli_ wellknown writers ..as Rudyard Kipling, .Rider Haggard (a serial sequel to “She”), Gertrude Page, the Baroness Orozy, Berta Ruck and Charles Garvico. With the exception of Sir Ruler Haggard’s serial tiro stories are all complete. Mr Kipling’s contribution is a poem specially written for this pnolicatiou. Tho publishers have not lavished expenditure on elaborate illustrations and high-class paper, hut have concentrated their efforts on giving their readers something really worth r.eadipjs.
