RIVERS IN HIGH FLOOD. Pei- Press Association. NAPIER, August 1. After ten days’ rough weather, during which 3.33 inches of rain fell, the rivers rose rapidly, and yesterday a considerable amount of water ovcrllowed on to the low-lying country between Napier, Meance and Pakowhai, hut the rivers fell considerably during the night and the danger of a serious flood is averted for the present. The sea has moderated considerably, and the Arahura. berthed this morning and the Tarawera anchored off the breakwater. So far no stock losses are reported, but the weather is still threatening.
