PROSPECTS IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
NOT BRIGHT FOR FARMERS.' By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received August 1, 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 1. Tho Herald says that, owing to the. failure, in a large measure of the usual winter rains, pastoralists aud wheatgrowers regard tho coming season’s outlook as gloomy. In many places tho pastures are Imre, aud heavy frosts and cold aro causing severe suffering and loss to the half-starved stock. Tho possibilities of a satisfactory wheat crop depend on the rainfall in the next few weeks. In many districts there is browning off owing to the drought, but the spring rains may bring the crops forward. The only hopeful feature is the marked dhnunition in the rabbit pest as tho result of the drought and the extensive operations of trappers who are taking advantage of tho high price of skins ami the demand for carcases in view of the shortage of meat.—Aus.» N.Z.
