Auckland, July 31.—Port Nicholson (8.35 a.m.), from New York. • AYRSHIRE DELAYED BY FIRE. A letter dated Juno 13, which has been received from Glasgow by a New Plymouth business firm, convoys the ill; formation that after about 970 toes of cargo had been loaded into the Ayr shire a fire occurred in No. 3 hold, in which there was about 1000 tons or bunker coal only. Hie fire Mas extinguished, but it became necessary to discharge the- coal and effect some- repairs to the insulation of the hold. The cargo on board was stowed in oilier holds and. so far as 'be writers know, no damage- to if had been caused. In consequence of the tiro there Mas to he a .small, general average to which tho cargo on board at the time of the. fire would have, to contribute.
