FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. A gloom passed over the district when it became known that Mr. F. W. Simpson’s brief illness had terminated fatally. Deceased was of a bright and happy disposition and liked and respected 6y all. Ho was born in Bristol, England, being the fourth son of the late William Simpson, who was well known in Eangitikei. Previous to coming to New Zealand 28 years ago he followed a military career, for seven years being sergeant in the Prince of Wales’ 24th Lancers, four years being spent on active service in India. The deceased leaves a widow and live children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father. There are several brothers, two of whom, W. J. and F. L.. reside at Tututawa, and one sister.' The funeral, which took place from the Presbyterian Church on Thursday, was largely attended, representing every family in the whole district, also Major J. B. Hine, M.P. The .service at the church and graveside was impressively performed hy the Rev. Mr. Madill. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all. The deceased was a nephew of the Hon. R. K. Simpson, M.L.0., of Marton.
