" ANNUAL MEETING'. Tlie annual meeting of the Dairy Factory Managers’ Association was held at Palmerston North on Wednesday, Mr. C. J. Parlane presiding. ANNUA LREPORT. The annual report stated that there had been a most gratifying increase in membership, no Jess than 69 new members having been enrolled during the year. Dealing with the new_ scale of salaries agreed upon us a recommendation. to dairy companies by that executive, in conference with the executive of the National Dairy Association, it had been very largely adhered to, and they recorded their appreciation of the conciliatory spirit in which the executive of the National Dairy Association met their representatives wlien dealing with the matter of salaries. Negotiations were proceeding in connection with several Taranaki companies that had not adopted their schedule.

In regard to tlie revised rules approved of by the last general meeting, the position iiad already been indicated hi a circular to members some months ago. In this connection they would bo asked to deal with an important notice cf motion, the object of which was merely to cancel tlie registration of the association under the Incorporated Societies Act, and enable a new body to be formed having as its constitution an organisation such as members approved of last June. The Auckland and Wairarapa Com'mittees had again shown praiseworthy activity, highly successful butter and cheese grading conferences ‘ having been organised by them during the season, and they accorded their best thanks to the director of the dairy division and officers of his department for their 'assistance therein. Other district committees had also met and done useful work. The statement of receipts and expenditure for tile year ending April 30, 1919, showed a credit balance of £39 16a 9d. Tho report was adopted. , OTHER BUSINESS. In accordance with notice, Mr. T. H. Downs (Northern Wairoa) ifiovcd: “That the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association (incorporate) bo voluntarily wound up in accordance with the requirements of the ‘lncorporated Societies’ Act, 1908,’ and that all books, documents, correspondence, and property, together with all surplus assets after payment of all costs, debts, and liabilities shall, subject to any trust affecting same, he handed to Mr. A. M. Stirling of Otorohanga, as agent for the promoters of the body to bo named the ‘New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association’ in order to allow the association to ho reorganised.” The effect of this new arrangement is that in future the business of the association will ho conducted by provincial executives answerable to the Dominion executive. Tho now proposed rules were received, and after slight amendment, carried. Officers for the ensuing year wore elected as follow; —Dominion president, Mr. C. J. Parlanej secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. M. Sterling; auditor, Mr. tV. Bendall; provincial presidents, Auckland, Mr. C. J. Parlane; Alanawatu, Mr. J. G. Word; Bush District, Mr. D. Kelly; Hawke’s Bay, Air. A. E. Fletcher; Taranaki, Air. E. H. Reeve; Wairarapa, Air. W. AFKeown; South Island, Air. J. Middleton. The next annual meeting will he held at tho Waikato Show at Hamilton. Several remits were roceixed re the establishment of a school for dairy instruction for managers. The proposal received hearty support, and a recommendation to .the Dairy Division was carried that such an institution he established at the Rua.kura State Farm for two months during each winter. Among other remits adopted was the following: “That it he a recommendation to the Dominion Executive to further the adoption of a standard cheese vat with a working capacity of not more than SOO gallons.” Mr. J. Alurray, ex-president, offered a gold medal for a new class for competition among managers, and this was accepted with thanks. A considerable amount of other routine business was dealt with.
