THE MINE-SWEEPERS.

DESCRIPTION OF VESSELS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 20. Tiie mine-sweepers Geranium and Marguerite ixave been placed in quarantine, there being 12 cases of influenza on the former and two on the latter. The Mallow is, free from influenza, and, providing there are no developments, will berth on Saturday. The vessels somewhat resemble destroyers, having a high forecastle head, two stump funnels amidships, and flush decks aft. They are a special type, designed and built for the work during tho period of the war, and are manned by naval ratings. The vessels are of 1200 tons register, with engines developing 2000 horse-power, and are capablo of steaming at 17 knots an hour. They are 207 feet in length, tho beam 'i<-ing 33 feet.
