OMATA.

PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. June 31.—A most succesful masked and fancy dress ball was held in the Omata Hall on Thursday night as a wind-up to this effort on behalf of the Roll of Honour Fund. The ball was decided on before the Fancy Fair which was held last month proved such an unqualified success and obviated the need of further effort fr this fund; but in order to disappoint no one the original programme was carried out. The hall was well filled, there being many visitors from town and the surrounding countryside. Many of the costumes were very cleverly got up and as a great many were in fancy dress the grand march which opened the ball was quite spectacular. Mrs. Movorley’s orchestra was in attendance and did good service, dancing being kept up until the early hours of -the morning. Supper was served during the evening and did credit to the committee of ladies who had charge of it. A list of the prize winners and others in fancy dress is as follows: Ist Mrs. "Williams, Peace; Mr. Williams, Victory; 2nd Miss Bayly, Spanish Dancer; Mr. J. Kendall, American Cowboy; most original, Miss 0. Palmer, Indian Squaw; Mr. Biggins, Highlander; children’s prize, Ist, Miss C. O’Dowda, Pierrette; 2nd Miss M. Bayly, Red Riding Hood. A special prize was awarded Mr. B. Moore for an impersonation of Sarah Damp. Mrs. J. Kendall, American Cowgirl; Mrs. Biggins, Starlight; Miss V. Kendall, Pierrette; Miss Biggins, Swallow; Miss Friar, Queen of Hearts; Miss B. Pease; France; Miss E. Mace, Butterfly; Miss Cook, Irish Girl; Miss H. Luxton, Folly; Miss V. Smith, Pierrette; Miss V. Loveridge, Britannia ; Miss Holmes, Gold Pouch Poster; Miss M. Kendall;. French Artist; Miss D. Jordan, Peasant; Miss G. Ansford, Ballet Girl; Miss Medway, Powder and Patches; Miss M.
